Role: Concept Creator, Art Director, and Post-Production Lead
Objective & Concept:
- Establishing Sky Sports as the New Home of F1: With Sky Sports securing the broadcast rights to Formula 1, the goal was to affirm its status as the premier destination for the sport. This title sequence was designed to assure fans that Sky, despite being new to F1, possessed a deep understanding of the sport’s history, its iconic moments, and its forward-looking vision.
- Crafting the Narrative: The concept I developed centered around the rich legacy of Formula 1, highlighting its greatest moments and champions, while also looking ahead to its future. The sequence needed to resonate with passionate fans and underscore Sky’s commitment to the sport.
Execution:
- Signature Soundtrack: We collaborated with Alistair Griffin to record “Just Drive,” a track that would go on to become synonymous with Formula 1 on Sky Sports. This song was pivotal in reinforcing the emotional and aspirational tone of the sequence.
- On-Set Art Direction & Key Talent: As the Art Director, I oversaw the shoot featuring F1 World Champion Sebastian Vettel, ensuring that the visual elements aligned with the high-octane, iconic feel of the sport.
- Post-Production Collaboration: I managed the entire editing process, from curating footage to collaborating closely with a leading post-production house. Together, we crafted a polished final piece that combined powerful visuals, sound, and motion graphics to convey Sky’s passion and expertise in Formula 1.
